The FlexMail Royal Mail Sortation module lets
you sort your mailing and produce accompanying documents for your mailing
according to the Royal Mail Mailsort / Walksort guidelines. This offers you the possibility
to take advantage of the benefits offered by Royal Mail for mailings sorted,
bundled, and bagged according to these rules.

FlexMail supports a wide range of features,
defined in the Mailsort / Walksort User's Guide and additional features defined by Royal
Mail concerning Customer Final Labeling and Customer Barcoding. FlexMail has
been tested by Royal Mail and conforms to their standards.
FlexMail Royal Mail Sortation supports the
following Mailsort / Walksort Services:
- Mailsort
1400 (Standard Mailsort)
Mailsort1400 (for letters and packets) involves sorting a mailing into
approximately 1400 selections, based on UK Delivery Offices. It is available
with three service levels.
- Mailsort
700 (Customer Barcoding)
Mailsort 700 (for letters only) involves sorting a mailing into
approximately 700 selections, based on the requirements of Royal Mail's Mail
Centres' automated sorting machines. To do this, mailpieces must have a
Customer Barcode applied. It is available with three service levels.
The Customer Barcode can be added to a mailpiece and printed with the
FlexMail Designer. In order to do so, the database should hold both a valid
Postcode and a valid DPS (Delivery Point Suffix). When these are not
available in the database, they can be added with the FlexMail Address
Validation module.
- Mailsort
120
Mailsort / Walksort 120 involves sorting the mail into approximately 120 selections,
based on large geographical areas. To do this, mail pieces must have either
a customer barcode applied (CBC) or use an optical character recognition
(OCR) font for printing the addresses. FlexMail supports both methods.
- Presstream
Like Mailsort 1400, Presstream involves sorting a mailing into approximately
1400 selections, based on UK Delivery Offices. It is available as a First or
Second class service. Presstream services are exclusively for publications.
- Walksort
If you send large volumes of mail throughout the UK, or if you send bulk mail to specific areas or locations, then Walksort® can save you money. If all your addresses have accurate postcodes and you do some of the sorting normally done by us, you could save off of your full business postage costs.
Besides the sortation methods described,
FlexMail incorporates a number of features described in the Mailsort / Walksort User's
Guide that enable you to optimize service and savings. The following features
are supported:
- Final Bag Labels
- Undersized Directs
- Mixed Weight Mailings
- Geographic Ordering
Mailsort / Walksort
output
FlexMail produces the following output, according to Royal Mail specifications:
- Sorted addresses,
with Mailsort / Walksort information added and when required with break markers to
identify selection breaks.
- Bag Labels,
either in "rough" label format or in "final" label
format, whatever is required.
- A Line Listing,
showing a break down of the mailing by selection and on a cummulative basis.
- A Computer Planning
report, summarizing the mailing, including overall volume, item
weight, total number of bags and split between Direct and Residue
selections.

There is no need for specialized personnel to
design and/or operate the software. FlexMail is
easy to use because of its
intuitive user interface incorporating floating menus, toolbars, tooltips,
context sensitive help, and wizards that take users through more complex tasks.
Because of its
close similarity to the Microsoft Office user interface, it is
very easy to understand FlexMail's user interface and operation.
The FlexMail software is international and
multilingual. It supports the postal standards of a
growing list of countries.
Users select the language version they want to use and can switch
between
languages if necessary.
FlexMail consists of a main program and optional
add-on modules that closely work together.
All optional modules plug seamless
into the main program, offering a fully integrated environment
to accomplish all
mailing and marketing functions. FlexMail's versatility allows the Direct
Mailer to choose the modules needed to accomplish a specific task including:
